Want to Use Video Marketing But You Are Not a Keynote Speaker

June 1, 2011 by Kenny Leave a Comment

Great news!  To use video marketing effectively you do not have to be a:

Keynote Speaker

If you don’t like speaking in front of the camera this article should help.

First- You are not as bad as you think.  The people watching are just regular people like you.  You are used to seeing actors, speakers, and spokespeople with their radio voices and energy.

Guess what?  That is not necessary for effective video marketing.

Video is engaging and you need to have videos on your website and as part of your Social Media.  It humanizes you and makes you a real person, and not just some faceless corporate entity.

It shows your personality, your smile, and it shows that you have the same challenges in life that so many others have.  Your customers can relate.

Here are some tips if you have difficulty speaking in front of the camera.

Relax.  It is just a camera.  You are not on stage in front of a live studio audience.

Start recording.  They get easier and easier.

Have someone you know stand behind the camera and talk to them. Forget the camera. They just happens to be something between you and the person you are talking to.

Actually speak to a person on the other side of the camera.  Your natural communication abilities will show and that is good for the viewer.  Your facial expressions and body language will be “normal” rather than staged.

Make sure your lighting is good. Natural light is best. You want the light coming from behind the camera not from behind you at the camera.

Do not stand in front of glass or pictures because the light reflects back into the camera.

No striped shirts.  Cameras can get quirky.  This is too techy to explain…just do not do it.

As important as the visual is, the audio is just as important.  People will actually watch a video that is a little bit blurry but if it sounds bad, they will not listen to it.

Length of video?  Say something valuable and stop talking.  If you want a specific number…3 minutes or less is good.  If you have 9 minutes of good video to say what you need to say…great.  Break it up into 3 separate 3 minute videos.  This will allow you to get more views and backlinks.

Not sure what to say?  Commonly asked questions by your customers make for good content.

Still need more content?  Give us a call.  We can help you develop compelling content to drive more sales.

Last but certainly not the least…you need equipment.  There is a ton to choose from.  We have a special report that goes strictly to our clients and it makes it easy for you.  Call us and tell us why you should get the report for free and we may send it to you.

Contact us and we’ll give you a video equipment and tips report – FREE.

Facebook Pay Per Click and Google Pros and Cons

May 28, 2011 by Kenny Leave a Comment

If you missed my previous article Facebook Pay Per Click versus Google Pay Per Click you should read that first.

Pros – Google PPC:

  • More direct to sale
  • Get response on potential sales immediately

Cons – Google PPC

  • Usually more expensive
  • Short-term unless you keep spending
  • Someone has to be looking to buy right now or they are of no use to you
  • Capturing leads is harder
  • You reach 1 person

Pros – Facebook PPC:

  • Less expensive
  • Massive Reach
  • Specialized targeting
  • Better long-term
  • Learn more about your customer base

Cons – Facebook PPC:

  • May take longer for the first sale
  • Not many people(including marketing agencies) know how to do it yet so you are limited in your choices

My customers ask which do I prefer to manage for them- Facebook or Google PPC?

Answer – It varies based on your market.  If you want to know my personal favorite…the one that leads to the most sales for you.

A big advantage of Facebook PPC over Google is when you are sending your viewers to a Facebook Fan Page.  If that Facebook visitor that you just paid for does not buy right now, they may still “like” your page.  The relationship begins and one of their 140 friends may see your page and they are ready to buy.

It is not over yet…

Then one of their friends sees that they “like” you and then another friend may take a look at your offer or page and so on and so on.

This can create a viral affect if you have something great to offer or something entertaining.

Facebook Pay Per Click Versus Google PPC

May 27, 2011 by Kenny Leave a Comment

Google PPC Buyer Mentality
Buyer Mentality on Google Search

Both Facebook Pay Per Click and Google PPC are internet marketing solutions that work.  The strategy that works for you depends upon your short-term and long-term goals.

If you are looking for a marketing agency that offers Facebook Pay Per Click Services it is important to know the difference between the two.

Both allow you to pay only when someone actually clicks on your ad.  So, if the ad shows and nobody actually clicks on it, you don’t pay anything.

They both offer detailed targeting.  However, the targeting is different.
Google PPC  is search marketing.  It is more direct-to-sale.  Someone types in a key phrase such as “new car”.  They may be looking to buy a new car now or in the future.  This could be a great lead if they click on your ad and fill out a form or call you.

Search marketing pay-per-click allows you to advertise  a product to someone that is already looking for that product.  They are more likely to be a buyer now or in the future.

Facebook PPC is more interruptive driven.  You are putting your ad in front of people that may or may not be looking to buy your product right now. You can target them based on a variety of factors such as:

  • Location
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Likes and interests

If you know your customer base well, you will run more effective marketing campaigns.

Most business owners understand targeting based on location, gender, and age, but are confused about the “likes and interests.”  Here is an example.

If someone has become a fan of the corporate page of a franchise you own…this will be considered a “like or interest” of theirs.  This is a person you should target if they fit the rest of your criteria.

Take some time to learn more about your customer and you will find a

variety of “likes and interests” that fit your market.  This is the most time consuming part of Facebook Pay-Per-Click and it is also the most important.

Facebook Pay-Per-Click is better for building community and building a network of people that may purchase from you now or in the future…OR they may refer someone to you.  You are also building relationships so when they are ready to buy, you get the first opportunity to sell to them.

Is Osama Bin Laden Dead?

May 1, 2011 by Kenny Leave a Comment

President Obama announced tonight that Osama Bin Laden is dead.

United States military troops took out Bin Laden during a targeted military strike in Pakistan.  There was a fire fight in which the terrorist leader was killed and US military troops took possession of his body.

Officials long believed bin Laden, the most wanted man in the world, was hiding in a mountainous region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.  Just a few months prior to the tenth anniversary of the al Qaida attack of September 11th and finally…

So what is the marketing angle on the biggest world news in years?

You may already understand that timing your sales and specials with current events like holidays helps drive sales.

Black Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the biggest shopping days of the year…specials galore.

On Saint Patrick’s Day bars sell green beer.

Even April 15th is big for some businesses as they capitalize on tax returns and offer special sales.

So what does a business do when there is a major event that you are unprepared for (such as the death of Osama Bin Laden).

You didn’t plan for this so…think fast and move quickly.

Here are some ideas:

Sell guns– In celebration of the world being a safer place as of today, make your home a safer place and buy yourself a new Colt 45….

Shooting range– Free range entry when you buy an Osama Bin Laden poster to shoot at.

Sell Cars– Throw a party.  Now that the world is a safer place we want to celebrate and give you the opportunity to drive around in our car that won “Safest car on the road in Consumer magazine”.  Come down to the dealership with your $10 donation to the 9-11 Victims Fund receipt and get a car for the weekend.

Music– There are a host of songs that you can have a special for from artists like Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Darry Worley.  Or you can go down to target and buy these Patriotic/Remembrance songs and give them away with a purchase of whatever it is you sell.

Any Business– Give away an American flag with every purchase.

Cigars– Put an American flag wrap on a box and run a special.

Maybe you do not own any of these types of businesses.  Still not coming up with anything?

Focus on your market.  What do they have to say about this historic day?  Go onto Facebook, local blogs, or forums and listen to what your market is saying.  Get a feel for how they feel about this day.

If your market includes military personnel you can probably count on the fact that it is a proud day for them.  Throw a military appreciation event.  Honor or congratulate them with something.  Call the press, they are dying for good content.  Unbox that video camera I recommended you buy for Social Media videos and invite some military people in and interview them.  Ask them how they feel now that justice has been brought to Bin Laden.

Even if there is no way to tie your product to this event you can create a “We are proud” feeling in which everyone is rallying together.

Share your ideas below about a specific industry.  Share an idea and I may help you expand upon it.  Or just state how you feel about this long-awaited event.

Avoid Content Farms – Reason #277 To Go Social

March 1, 2011 by Kenny Leave a Comment

Google has done it again…

Can’t find your website?

Are you lost in this maze called the internet?

You spent all this time and money to get your site indexed and moving up the search engines.  You’ve added great content and newsworthy relevant content from other sources because it may appeal to your audience.  You have played by the rules and made your site relevant to the viewer/internet searcher.  Now your website has disappeared and you are wondering why your SEO company does not have an answer…

I do!

But first…what happened recently could affect you with one click of the Google equivalent of the nuclear button.

They have made a change in their algorithm.  Google’s algorithm determines where your website ranks for a relevant search.  Nobody knows exactly what the algorithm is or savvy Internet Marketing Consultants would do everything they can to game the system.  As a Marketing Speaker and Consultant myself I can tell you that all we really have are educated guesses.

The change Google just made regarding the new alogrithm and content farms is to make the viewer experience better…but who decides what is better?

Google does.  That’s who.

Isn’t it the viewer that really matters?

According to many educated guessers, Google has decided that websites with similar content to other sites are getting something called the Google SLAP.  If your site is full of unique content this should not hurt your…I did say should not.

Nobody knows for sure.  The point of this article is not to give all the technical details of how the Google slap works or the definition of a content farm.  This article is meant to wake you up to the fact that major search engines can make a change with one click of the button and your website is near extinction.

That is why you need Social Media.

If you are providing great content, resources, a great product and service…Facebook Fans and Twitter followers will decide if you are relevant.

Don’t get me wrong…I love Google and what they have done to bring search and Pay per click where it is today but Social is the new Black.

To learn more of the technical side and the details of the change Google just made check it out right here:
