This is a simple but important concept that I wanted to share with you right away. Before you read the story below let me share a few important tips regarding our newsletter.
Our digital newsletter does not get delivered at a regularly scheduled time. Here is why:
Emergency Updates – Things take place that warrant contacting you right away because it could dramatically affect you.
Special Event – We may host a teleseminar, webinar, or in-person event and we want to send you an invite. On occasion we may have an open seat to an event for our VIP Club Members and slip you a last minute invite. (This does not happen often because our VIP Club Members pay good money to get exclusive strategies and ideas shared with them.)
Now for the story of Billy, the 10 year old fisherman/marketing genius.
Little Billy was not much of a fisherman yet.
He was not a big fan of worms and he had a difficult time sitting still. As he stood there holding his line in the water his Dad could tell he was not motivated to fish that day.
Billy really wanted to go to the baseball game that night.
Billy’s Dad wanted Billy to learn various outdoor activities so as he got older he could figure out what it is he really loved. Billy’s Dad was determined to motivate him to at least try to catch some fish so he said,
“Billy, if you catch more fish than me today, we will go to the game tonight.”
Billy thought for a minute then he walked back to the truck. He came back with all of his older brothers fishing rods in his hand (four more). He baited all of them (he even put extra hooks on some lines) then he cast each line in a different direction.
At the end of the day Billy caught more fish than his Dad because his motivation had changed and he figured out a way to beat his Dad so he could go to the baseball game.
Billy should be teaching seminars on how to grow massive revenues using various marketing channels.
This brings up some questions:
- Are you going to throw more lines in the water?
- Are you going to put more hooks on one line?
- You may not love marketing just like Billy does not love fishing but is there another motivation that will lead you to throw more lines in the water?
There may be several marketing techniques and platforms that you could be using to increase your profits. What are they? Are you using them all?
There is no law against running 7 different types of ads in 27 different places.
Plus:
- Know where to cast your line = Know where your buyers are
- Know the best bait to use = Attract the targeted customer
- Better rod and reel = Better strategy to increase profits
- Better fishing hook so you don’t lose fish = Better enticing offer to get your target markets attention
- Stronger fishing line = Strong sales funnel leading to more profits
- Bigger/better net to pull the fish on the boat = Conversion of leads to paying customers
Many of the business owners I meet are willing to do more marketing. They just do not know where to go…Social Media, PPC, SEO, Video, etc.
They also do not know how well their current marketing is performing.
